Children's Museum

Good News! Alamance County will receive a much needed Children's Museum in Graham, NC. We will all benefit from this outlet for the young in our community. If you have never been to a facility such as this you will be thrilled with the interaction and stimulation that it will provide for the child and adult being with the child. It is a good thing!!!
Just like the proposed progress for Downtown Burlington. The City Council will meet on April 1st to discuss the prepared proposal for renovating and rebuilding hope for a DOWNTOWN that will be beneficial for all. It will be a long process, just like the proposed "Children's Museum". The firm that has prepared the plan has done an excellent job with staging the efforts in ways that will allow the city to asthetically bring the area up to standards using funds that are already available.
The next few steps are simple and much needed. But the intent to bring new business and investment into downtown will take quite some time. Nothing of this magnitude happens overnight. This project will definitely be something to look forward to and to watch the progress will be fascinating.

Transforming Home Furnishings

Alamance Magazine allowed me to write a little blurb for the March edition. Tranformations

Designing a home with quality furniture that fits your budget can be easier than you think. This trendy new way to shop is “resale”. Shopping at flea markets, antique shows and consignment stores is a great way to save a little money. You can find that upscale and unique piece of furniture or accessory, while helping your community recycle and reuse.
Wide varieties of people have caught on already and have furnished their college apartments, their first homes and met their changing needs when relocating. The resale industry is doing well nationwide for reasons like the “shabby chic” and distressed look that you see in the decorator magazines. Top rated television shows are all about decorating on a budget. They bring in a designer and use unique and creative ways to makeover a room while often using pieces that can be recycled, reused and restored for different purposes. Do it yourself interior design and decorating is becoming more popular with these resources.
Don’t forget to think outside the box, mix the old and the new. That piece that your neighbor threw out when he was moving, could be just what you are looking for with a fresh coat of paint. Pay attention to the elements, making sure the piece has good lines, and lots of character. The color and hardware can easily be changed giving it new personality and you could have just saved space in the landfill.
Shoppers love to find a bargain, and what better way to find it than locating a good piece of used furniture. Prices in consignment stores can range from $19 for a lamp to $900 for a formal dining room suite that might have originally cost over $3000. Sometimes when shopping for new pieces the prices can be overwhelming. Check all the possibilities and discover that it can be very affordable to reach your design when you shop “resale”.

March Madness at Bella's House

I can't believe it's March already. And somebody forgot to tell me about the time change. I guess I have been so busy with the painting classes that I wasn't paying attention. Wednesday and Thursday classes for the month of March started last week. We have fun participants doing extremely creative things. I am so excited. Everybody got their pieces sanded and primed last week and we will start the color process next week. I will share photos soon. And we already have a few sign ups for April. Remember we will continue this as a monthly class. If you have to miss a session you can make it up next month.
And "How bout those HEELS?"
