Burlington Fireworks
After googling for ten minutes and looking at the city's website I still can't figure out when fireworks will be held this weekend. I have decided to close the store on Saturday the 4th of July...cookouts and fun to be had with family and friends. But when will the fireworks be held?

Along with great food by Marg of Sonny's Catering and wine from the Iron Gate Winery, we will have actors who are familiar with Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night Dream" call out the numbers during the "Bingo Sessions". A gift basket with wonderful items will be given out at the end of the evening to one lucky bingo winner.
Music will be performed by "Green Army Men" ( 80's - 90's college rock music) in the courtyard. A special guest, Lisa Kyle, will be playing acoustic guitar before the band goes on.
At the end of the evening, we will gather outside around a bonfire where actors will perform a portion of "A Midsummer's Night Dream". We will throw circulets of St. John's wort into the fire, which is used to ward off evil spirits on this magical night of the summer solstice.
Summer soltice traditions center on the life giving force of fire and light. Some countries light huge bonfires that glow into the night as a way to celebrate. Villagers gathered around the fires singing, dancing and chanting charms. As the fires burned through the night, people tended and watched over the leaping flames. Herbs and larkspur were tossed in the dying fires with the words, "May ill luck depart, burnt up in these." Evil spirits were said to lurk about on the magical night of the summer solstice. St. John's wort, an aromatic ancient herb, was used to fashion circlets and worn on the head to ward off these evil spirits. William Shakespeare penned a rollickin romantic play around the antics of humans and mystical creatures called, "A Midsummer's Night Dream".
This will be an evening you won't forget!
